Vintage Glazed Terracotta Reclining Tiger Folk Art Sculpture.A charming vintage pottery sculpture of a reclining tiger, hand modelled in terracotta and decorated with a wonderfully expressive glaze in warm shades of ochre yellow, reddish brown and black. The tiger is depicted resting on a textured naturalistic base, with its head raised, mouth slightly open and distinctive striped markings extending along its body and tail. With its characterful modelling, glossy finish and slightly naive appearance, this unusual piece has a lovely folk art quality and would make a delightful addition to a collection of animal sculptures or decorative ceramics. An appealing statement piece for a mantelpiece, bookshelf or side table.
Dimensions: 7cm x 34cm x 10cm high
Condition:Vintage condition with general age-related wear, surface marks, glaze imperfections and some small chips and losses around the underside of the base. Fine lines visible in the terracotta underneath, with some minor surface crazing.
