Vintage Cinque Ports Pottery Rye 15 Piece Coffee Set. A wonderfully graphic vintage coffee set by Cinque Ports Pottery Ltd of The Monastery, Rye, dating to around the 1960s70s. The set has a distinctly mid-century silhouette, with a tall cylindrical coffee pot, slender curved spout and simple coffee cans, all finished in a dark brown and black glaze with fine horizontal and vertical striations creating an almost woven or plaid effect. The white glazed interiors give a crisp contrast to the rich, earthy exterior. Cinque Ports Pottery was established in Rye in the late 1950s, with production moving to The Monastery under George Grey following the end of his partnership with David Sharp in 1964; domestic tablewares including coffee sets became an important part of the pottery's output during the following decades.A complete and stylish surviving set, comprising a lidded coffee pot, milk jug, sugar bowl, six coffee cups and six matching saucers. Each piece is marked to the underside for Cinque Ports Pottery Ltd, The Monastery, Rye. 15 pieces in total.

Condition:Good vintage condition with expected light signs of age and previous use. The glaze has the subtle variations and irregularities associated with this type of studio-produced pottery. Please refer to the photographs for the overall condition and finish.
