Pair of Victorian Beadwork & Silk Footstools. Pair of Victorian footstools retaining their original beadwork and silk upholstery. Each stool has a square ebonised wooden frame raised on four turned feet, with a generously padded top centred by a circular floral beadwork panel worked in rich ochre, pink, blue, grey and brown tones. The beadwork is surrounded by black silk arranged in a gathered, radiating design and finished with decorative cord and braid around the edges. The combination of beadwork, silk and turned ebonised frames gives the pair a particularly atmospheric Victorian look, and despite their considerable wear they remain very appealing decorative objects. They would work well beside a fireside chair, beneath a console or simply displayed together as part of a layered antique interior. Sold as a pair.

Condition:Antique condition with considerable wear to the original textile coverings. The black silk is heavily worn, frayed and torn in places with loose threads and areas of loss around the edges and corners. The beadwork panels show age related wear, fading and some small losses, while the decorative cord and braid are also worn and loose in places. The ebonised wooden frames have marks, knocks, rubbing and surface wear consistent with age and use. These are very much decorative antique pieces with an intentionally unrestored appearance, and the extensive textile wear should be considered part of their condition.
