Pair of Antique Carved Oak Foliate Panels. Antique 18th Centurydecorative pair of antique oak panels, each deeply carved with a symmetrical arrangement of scrolling foliage, leaves and geometric detail.The carving has a strong vernacular character, with bold rounded scrolls set around a central foliate motif. Both panels have fielded backs and were almost certainly originally incorporated into a piece of furniture.
Dimensions: 29cm x 36cm
Condition:There is historic woodworm throughout, particularly visible to the backs and around the edges, together with losses and deterioration to some of the outer edges and corners. There are further marks, knocks, surface wear and irregularities consistent with their age and former use.
