Oyster Veneer Chest of Drawers

Oyster Veneer Chest of Drawers. Inlaid all over with oyster veneers in an overlapping configuration, the moulded oblong top strung with box and ebony intersecting circles above three short and three long banded drawers on ogee bracket feet. A most interesting adaptation: the carcase appears to be of the late 18th century and has had a total make-over in modern times by an extreme competent cabinetmaker. The pattern of conjoined oyster veneers is unusual and makes a refreshing departure from the conventional method. The surfaces have been lightly distressed to give an impression of antiquity.
