Original Oil Painting by John Allen Videan. An original mid 20th century oil painting on canvas by British artist John Allen Videan (19031989), whose work is held in public collections including Folkestone Museum and the Guildhall Art Gallery. Titled "Cafe Torrent, Collioure," the painting depicts a lively street scene in the famous Catalan fishing port on the French Mediterranean coast, with pavement cafe tables and chairs set beneath dappled shade, figures seated at leisure, and sun washed architecture beyond. Painted in a loose, confident hand capturing the strong southern light for which Collioure became celebrated among artists earlier in the century. Signed and dated "John A. Videan, 50" to the lower right. The painting retains its original gallery label to the reverse, giving the artist's name and address (31 Holborn, London E.C.1), the title of the work, and its original sale price of 26.5s. Presented in its original cream-painted wooden frame.

Condition:Good original condition. The canvas presents well with no obvious tears, losses, or significant craquelure visible. The frame shows honest age wear, including a small split/separation to one corner join. The original gallery label to the reverse is intact, if lightly age-toned and foxed.
