Oriental Style Hand Painted Ceramic Jardiniere. Antique ceramic jardiniere dating to the late 19th or early 20th century, featuring a beautifully hand painted Oriental landscape in black against a soft pale yellow glazed background. The atmospheric scene depicts tall trees surrounding a lakeside pavilion, distant mountains and a small sailing boat, with delicate gilded highlights adding depth and character. The elongated oval body is raised on four ornate scrolling feet with decorative gilded handles at either end, giving the piece an elegant and distinctive silhouette. An attractive example of the Victorian and Edwardian fashion for Japanese inspired decorative wares, ideal for displaying dried flowers or as a standalone decorative piece on a mantelpiece, sideboard or console table.
Dimensions: 34cm x 16cm x 19cm
Condition:Good antique condition with age related crazing to the glaze, particularly visible to the underside and interior. There is noticeable rubbing and wear to the gilding around the rim, handles and feet, alongside some minor surface marks and discolouration consistent with age. No obvious major chips or structural cracks visible in the photographs.
