Georgian Brass Coal Bin

Georgian Brass Coal Bin. brass cylindrical coal bin, with a riveted upper band and engraved with festooned shells and the arms of the Carmichael family and motto, “Toujours Prest”, (Always Ready), over a scrolling band and on splayed legs with paw feet.

A most interesting piece that may have been commissioned by the Carmichaels who were Scottish Earls in the 18th century when their fortified house was rebuilt in the 18th century, and which has since become a ruin.
