Early 20th Century Folk Art Pokerwork Stool. Early 20th century folk art stool with a hexagonal seat and four splayed turned legs, extensively decorated using traditional pokerwork techniques. The top is worked with a scrolling foliate design set against a densely stippled ground, with further geometric decoration around the outer edge. The legs are similarly covered in fine punched and burnt detail, with simple turned rings breaking up their tapering form.Small in scale but full of character, it works equally well as a low stool, plant stand or occasional table.
Dimensions: 28cm x 28cm x 34cm
Condition:Good antique condition with marks, knocks, scratches, rubbing and general surface wear consistent with age and use. The pokerwork decoration has softened and worn in places, particularly across the seat, with areas of fading and surface loss. There are minor age-related irregularities to the timber and joints, but the stool presents well overall.
