Early 20th Century Chinoiserie Black Lacquer Nest of Three Tables. Early 20th century nest of three occasional tables with black lacquered decoration in the Chinoiserie taste. Each rectangular top is decorated with traditional Oriental figures within garden landscapes, incorporating delicate gilt detailing and touches of red, cream and muted colour against the dark ground. The slender supports feature further gilt ornament, with shaped stretchers and elegantly curved feet lending the tables a particularly graceful appearance. Designed to nest neatly together when not in use, the graduated tables retain their decorative appeal whether displayed as a group or positioned individually beside an armchair or sofa. A lovely example of early 20th century decorative furniture, combining practical proportions with richly detailed Eastern-inspired decoration.

Condition:Good antique condition with general age-related wear, scratches, knocks and marks throughout. Some rubbing, small chips and losses to the black lacquered finish, particularly around the edges, legs and feet, together with areas of wear and fading to the gilt and painted decoration. The tops display surface scratches and signs of previous use, with minor variations in colour and finish between the three tables.
