Charles II joined oak panel chest , Rustic English oak chest, second half of the 17th century, the cover with 19th century panels. With moulded and carved terminals, the cover with later floral carved panels together with commemorative initials, the frieze with interlaced scroll carving above triple panels with carved lozenge shaped medallions, the interior with a reconstructed till with later elements, on stile supports.
This panelled chest is a nice old survivor which has undergone some workshop attention, probably in the twentieth century, to ‘enhance’ the appearance of the cover or perhaps to provide the owner at that time with some components removed from another item that was distressed with initials appertaining to the family. The item retains its original iron loop hinges. The interior till has been reconstructed but lacks the pivoted cover.

We offer free cancellation or a full refund on any order prior to dispatch.
Delivery can usually be arranged on a day that suits you — simply leave a note at checkout and we will do our best to accommodate your preferred date.
We offer a flat-rate delivery service of £75 across England & Wales. For deliveries to Scotland, please contact us for a tailored quote due to distance. You are also very welcome to collect your item in person from our warehouse.
Most deliveries are completed within 3–5 working days from dispatch. If you require an expedited service, please get in touch and we’ll do our best to help.
If you would like to delay dispatch for a few weeks, please add a note at checkout and we will happily hold your item. For longer-term storage, please contact us in advance to discuss options.
Our delivery service is carried out by a two-person team and includes delivery to your room of choice. This covers up to one flight of stairs. If delivery is required to a second floor or above, please notify us in advance as a £15 surcharge per floor will apply.
Please ensure there is suitable access for delivery. If you have any concerns regarding access, feel free to contact us before placing your order.
For your peace of mind, we provide a 30-day returns period. In the unlikely event that an item arrives damaged or is not as described, we will arrange a free return. For all other returns, please contact us to discuss options.
