Antique Oak Turner's Chair with Rush Seat. Late 19th Centuryoak turner's chair with the distinctive triangular seat and sculptural turned frame associated with this enduring country furniture form. The chair has a broad shaped crest rail, open central splat and long turned arms, with richly worked supports and stretchers throughout. The seat is tightly woven in rush, giving the piece a lighter, more rustic character against the deep oak frame. The timber has developed a warm, mellow surface with attractive wear to the high points of the turning, and the overall shape has a pleasingly architectural quality from every angle. A strong standalone chair for a hallway, bedroom or fireside corner, and equally effective as a decorative piece within a more relaxed country house interior.

Condition:Good antique condition with general wear, knocks, rubbing and surface marks consistent with age and use. The oak has an attractive aged patina with areas of lighter wear across the turned elements. The rush seat shows some age and use, with visible wear and looseness in places, particularly around the centre and underside, but remains largely intact.
