Antique Carved Oak Wall Pane. Attractive antique oak wall panel featuring two deeply carved decorative sections with stylised floral motifs set beneath arched architectural surrounds, separated by a central panel of scrolling foliate carving. The symmetrical design incorporates geometric borders, moulded framing and a projecting upper ledge, with the dark finish highlighting the depth and detail of the carving. Originally forming part of a larger piece of furniture or interior woodwork, the panel has been adapted for wall hanging with brass fittings to the reverse. A characterful piece of antique architectural salvage, suitable for display above a fireplace, in a hallway or as a decorative feature within a country house interior.
Dmensions: 81cm wide x 58cm high x 12.5cm deep at the top
Condition:Good antique condition with general age-related wear, scratches, knocks and marks throughout. Some small chips, splits and losses to the carved decoration and mouldings, together with rubbing and variations in the dark finish. Evidence of historic woodworm to the front panel, please refer to photographs. Further signs of previous alterations and later fittings to the reverse, consistent with its adaptation for wall display.
