Antique Carved Oak Bank of Drawers

Antique carved oak bank of drawers. The palmette-incised cornice centred on an escutcheon inlaid with diagonal lines, above an arrangement of fourteen drawers variously incised with lozenges, gadrooning, scrolling foliage and geometric motifs within moulded front corners over a scalloped apron. Assembled from various 17th century components, some of which have been sawn to fit in with the overall scheme. It was probably made up in the late 19th century. A clever and decorative adaptation.

Condition: Solid condition, damage to the drawer fronts, historic repairs to the drawer boxes.
