Antique Carved Oak Armchair

Antique carved oak armchair. Antique late 17th Century & later oak armchair. The oblong back with an arched panel incised with stylised foliage and a palmette over a boarded seat within scroll-ended arms on baluster and blocked legs with a peripheral stretcher, ivorine label inscribed Spillman & Co, St Martins Lane, London.

Dimensions: 62cm wide x 54cm deep x 46cm seat height x 118cm high.

Condition: Solid condition, This appears to be fundamentally authentic, but there has been some reconstruction particularly of the back. Spillman were antique dealers and furniture suppliers at the beginning of the last century. It’s possible that they restored the chair at that time, some evidence of woodworm to the back - this has been treated as a precaution.
