Antique Bobbin Turned Side Chair with Cane Seat. Late 19th century side chair with bobbin turned frame and a shaped cane seat. The back is built up from rows of closely turned beads, with three slender central spindles giving it a light, almost architectural quality despite the dark timber. The front legs and stretcher repeat the same bobbin detail, balanced by simpler rear legs and side stretchers. Its deep brown finish has worn attractively across the raised turnings, revealing warmer tones beneath and giving the chair plenty of depth and age. The gently shaped seat is newly or more recently caned and sits neatly within the original frame. A lovely occasional chair for a bedroom, hallway or corner, and a good decorative piece in its own right.

Condition:Good antique condition with general wear, knocks, rubbing and surface marks consistent with age and use. The finish is worn in places, particularly across the turned elements and seat frame, giving the timber a naturally aged appearance. The cane seat appears to be later and is in good usable condition. There are some small historic marks and minor movement typical of an old chair, but overall it presents well.
