Antique 18th Century Style Walnut Chest on Stand / Tallboy. Antique walnut chest on stand in the 18th century style, featuring beautifully figured walnut drawer fronts with rich swirling grain, warm mellow colour and decorative brass drop handles and escutcheons. The upper chest comprises two short drawers above three long graduated drawers, resting on a shaped stand with three further drawers, an attractive arched apron and six legs united by wavy stretchers. The piece has undergone various historic alterations and repairs, giving it a distinctive, wonderfully timeworn appearance. The walnut has developed a rich patina, with areas of wear, old repairs and variations in colour that contribute to its character. An impressive piece of traditional furniture offering generous storage, ideal for a bedroom, hallway or country house interior.

Condition:Antique condition with considerable age-related wear, scratches, knocks, marks and discolouration throughout. Numerous historic alterations and repairs, with some early elements retained. Losses, lifting, splitting and repairs to the walnut veneers, including vertical splitsto one side of the upper chest. The top has a particularly timeworn surface with open joints, splits, old holes and areas of wear. Later brass handles and escutcheons, with evidence of previous fittings. Wear and alterations to the drawer interiors, consistent with the age and history of the piece. Please refer to photographs for details.
