18th Century Pewter Oval Warming Dish by G & J Alderson.18th century English pewter warming dish by G. & J. Alderson of London, with a beautifully timeworn surface and distinctive oval form. Featuring a broad raised rim, decorative turned handles to either end and an unusual curved pierced divider to the interior. The pewter has developed a rich, mellow grey patina with darker areas of oxidation and wear, giving it a lovely sense of history and character. The underside bears the London Superfin mark. Originally made as a practical warming vessel, this substantial piece now makes a striking decorative centrepiece, ideal for displaying seasonal fruit, candles or collected objects on a farmhouse table, kitchen island or country house dresser. A wonderfully atmospheric piece of early English metalware.

Dimensions: 42cm x 56cm x 11cm high

Condition:Antique condition with considerable age-related wear, surface scratches, marks, pitting, oxidation and areas of discolouration throughout. There are several holes to the tray surface and around the outer sides, along with some roughness and losses to the edges. Areas of brown oxidation to the interior and a wonderfully timeworn patina consistent with age and use. Please refer to photographs for details.
