18th Century Oak Six Plank Coffer. A charming early oak six plank coffer of traditional construction, featuring a single board hinged lid above a deep storage compartment. Raised on integral plank ends, the chest displays excellent colour and patina, with attractive grain throughout the oak boards and a simple wrought iron lock plate to the front.The six plank construction represents one of the earliest and most enduring forms of vernacular furniture, prized for its honest craftsmanship and rustic appeal. Originally used for the storage of household linens, textiles, documents or personal possessions, it now serves equally well as a blanket chest, coffee table or decorative storage piece.

We offer free cancellation or a full refund on any order prior to dispatch.
Delivery can usually be arranged on a day that suits you — simply leave a note at checkout and we will do our best to accommodate your preferred date.
We offer a flat-rate delivery service of £75 across England & Wales. For deliveries to Scotland, please contact us for a tailored quote due to distance. You are also very welcome to collect your item in person from our warehouse.
Most deliveries are completed within 3–5 working days from dispatch. If you require an expedited service, please get in touch and we’ll do our best to help.
If you would like to delay dispatch for a few weeks, please add a note at checkout and we will happily hold your item. For longer-term storage, please contact us in advance to discuss options.
Our delivery service is carried out by a two-person team and includes delivery to your room of choice. This covers up to one flight of stairs. If delivery is required to a second floor or above, please notify us in advance as a £15 surcharge per floor will apply.
Please ensure there is suitable access for delivery. If you have any concerns regarding access, feel free to contact us before placing your order.
For your peace of mind, we provide a 30-day returns period. In the unlikely event that an item arrives damaged or is not as described, we will arrange a free return. For all other returns, please contact us to discuss options.
Many of our pieces are vintage or pre-owned, so some signs of wear may be present. We always aim to describe and photograph each item as accurately as possible.
