Constructed with high quality timbers from the period between 1837 and 1901 often from walnut, mahogany and oak and typically feature sprung seats, scroll arms, button backs, cabriole legs and porcelain casters. Their longevity is testament to the craftsmanship with which they were built and although many Victorian designs are still copied in contemporary furniture catalogues they are not neccessarily manufactured to the same high standards.
