17th Century Carved Oak Coffer.A fine 17th century carved oak chest, the three panel plank top opening on original wrought iron strap hinges above a boldly arcaded lunette frieze and a working iron lock. The front fitted with two densely carved panels of scrolling guilloche and roundel decoration, separated by a further narrow carved panel, flanked by panelled sides. Raised on stile feet with carved scroll brackets. Rich, deeply patinated oak colour throughout, with the honest construction and wear expected of a piece of this age.A superb example of English joined oak furniture, full of genuine period character.
Dimensions: 110cm wide x 61cm deep x 68cm high
Condition: Genuine 17th century piece showing age and wear commensurate with its date, including small splits and a burn mark to the top, historic repairs with the legs having been reduced and repaired at some point in the piece's life, damage to the carved/inlaid decoration, and a lock that does not currently function.
Delivery: 75 flat rate for England and Wales only. This is an economy service with a two-person team, delivering to a ground floor room of choice. Please contact us prior to purchase for deliveries involving stairs, restricted access, Scotland, or if an express service is required.

We offer free cancellation or a full refund on any order prior to dispatch.
Delivery can usually be arranged on a day that suits you — simply leave a note at checkout and we will do our best to accommodate your preferred date.
We offer a flat-rate delivery service of £75 across England & Wales. For deliveries to Scotland, please contact us for a tailored quote due to distance. You are also very welcome to collect your item in person from our warehouse.
Most deliveries are completed within 3–5 working days from dispatch. If you require an expedited service, please get in touch and we’ll do our best to help.
If you would like to delay dispatch for a few weeks, please add a note at checkout and we will happily hold your item. For longer-term storage, please contact us in advance to discuss options.
Our delivery service is carried out by a two-person team and includes delivery to your room of choice. This covers up to one flight of stairs. If delivery is required to a second floor or above, please notify us in advance as a £15 surcharge per floor will apply.
Please ensure there is suitable access for delivery. If you have any concerns regarding access, feel free to contact us before placing your order.
For your peace of mind, we provide a 30-day returns period. In the unlikely event that an item arrives damaged or is not as described, we will arrange a free return. For all other returns, please contact us to discuss options.
Many of our pieces are vintage or pre-owned, so some signs of wear may be present. We always aim to describe and photograph each item as accurately as possible.
