Antique Giltwood & Gesso Circular Footstool. Decorative late 19th to early 20th century circular footstool, with a domed upholstered seat set into a carved timber frame enriched with gilt gesso decoration. The low circular base is raised on three carved feet with scrolling detail and retains layers of old gilt and painted finish, now wonderfully timeworn. The upholstered top lifts away from the base and is covered in faded blue fabric. A lovely small scale decorative piece with plenty of character, ideal beside an armchair or simply as an accent piece.

Condition:In decorative antique condition with substantial age related wear and losses to the gilt gesso decoration around the frame. The blue upholstery is faded, worn and marked with some small areas of damage and would benefit from recovering. There is an old split to the wooden seat board, visible when the cushion is removed. Structurally it presents well for its age, but the condition is very much part of its timeworn character.
