Antique Portuguese walnut and leather side chair featuring a leather back embossed with an ornate symmetrical foliate and scrolling motif. The tall back is flanked by finely carved scrolling finials and bordered with decorative brass studwork, echoed throughout the chairs richly patinated leather seat. Raised on turned baluster legs united by shaped peripheral stretchers, the chair displays the bold craftsmanship and rustic elegance characteristic of Iberian furniture of the period. A striking occasional or hall chair with strong decorative presence and beautifully aged surfaces.

Dimensions: 50cm wide x 42cm deep x 49cm seat height x 111cm high at the back.

Condition: Solid, replacement leg, old woodworm, some damage and repairs to the leather, losses to the brass mounts
