Antique Pine Washstand Cupboard with Drawers

Antique Pine Washstand Cupboard with Drawers. Antique pine washstand cupboard, dating from the late 19th century. Made in solid pine with a warm, naturally aged surface, it has an unusually decorative silhouette with its shaped and scalloped gallery back, two small upper drawers and an open central shelf. Below are three generously sized drawers alongside a panelled cupboard door with attractive carved edging, opening to reveal two useful storage compartments. Raised on turned feet and finished with clear glass flower-shaped handles, it has plenty of the naive charm and practical proportions we look for in old country furniture. Originally intended as a washstand or bedroom cupboard, it would work equally well today as a linen cupboard, bathroom cabinet, bedroom storage piece or characterful sideboard in a kitchen or living space. A particularly pretty example with a lovely pale, scrubbed back appearance.

Dimensions: 121cm wide x 50cm deep x 90cm high x 125cm high at the back

Condition:Good antique condition with wear, & knocks small losses and areas of discolouration consistent with age and use. The pine has a naturally aged, uneven surface with visible old marks and darker areas throughout, all contributing to its character. There are some old splits and shrinkage to the timber, split to the door and some losses to the bead around the door panel, together with signs of historic wear around the base and lower front. The drawers and cupboard remain usable. Glass handles appear to be later replacements. Please refer to the photographs for an accurate reflection of the overall condition.
