Charles I Oak Chest. Circa 1640, Antique English oak chest, the three-panel hinged lid above a nulled frieze with a wrought-iron hasp over two panels incised all over with conjoined guilloche within chequerbanded borders flanking a guilloche-incised muntin on stiles with scroll-carved ear brackets, A most unusual design and possibly north country. A very original blending of Renaissance details with traditional joined form.
Dimensions: 110cm wide x 61cm deep x 68cm high
Condition: Age and wear commensurate with age, some damage small splits and burn mark to the top, historic repairs - legs have been reduced and also repaired, the lock doesn't work, damage to inlay.
