Early 19th century mahogany pedestal table with a fold over top, richly figured veneers and a particularly handsome carved base. The top opens along the centre and is supported on a substantial turned and reeded pedestal, set above a shaped platform base with carved scroll detail and four boldly modelled paw feet. A small carved roundel to the frieze gives the front a decorative focal point, while the restrained proportions keep the piece elegant rather than overly formal. The mahogany has deepened to a warm reddish brown with attractive variation across the top, and the sculptural base gives the table a strong presence from every angle. Originally designed as a multifunctional drawing room table, it would work well today as an occasional table, games table or compact dining table where something with real period character is wanted.

Dimensions:91cm x 45cm x 71cm high / 91cm when open

Condition:Overall good antique condition with general age related wear, marks, scratches and variation to the finish. There are historic repairs to the veneer around the platform base, together with small areas of loss and lifting visible in places. Further knocks, scuffs and signs of use are present throughout in keeping with the table's age.
